Vaccinations and Immunisations

  • Flu vaccination, available from October each year. Early booking is recommended as in 2005/06 manufacturers could not keep up with public demand
  • Childhood vaccinations administered according to the recommendations of the Chief Medical Officer and Department of Health schedules
  • Full range of vaccines available:
    • MMR and HiB (as per protocols)
    • Tetanus/Diptheria/Polio (boosters required every 10 years)
    • Typhoid (boosters required every 3 years)
    • Pneumococal Vaccine
    • Meningitis (ACWY and Type C vaccines as indicated)
    • Hepatitis A (Course of 2 injections provides at least 10 years immunity)
    • Hepatitis B (course of 3 injections provides as least 10 years immunity)
    • Rabies Vaccine (course of 4 injections over four weeks gives up to 5 years protection)
    • Yellow Fever (Dr Edmonds practice is a registered Yellow Fever Centre) MUST BE ADMINSTERED 10 DAYS PRIOR TO DEPARTURE
    • Japanese Encephalitis (by special order)
    • Shingles (Zostavax) (by special order)
    • Tick-Borne Encephalitis (by special order)
  • Latest advice on Malaria prophylaxis (oral medication) is routinely provided.It is always advisable to speak to Dr Edmonds before coming for vaccinations as some vaccines have to be ordered specially in advance and may not be in stock.
