Rapeseed Oil

Key nutrients :  Omega 3,6 and 9, Vitamin E, Phytosterols, monounsaturated fat and polyunsaturated fat.

Healing Properties : Abundant in beneficial omega-3,6,9  and vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant.  The monosaturated fat is the healthiest type and the polyunsaturated fat lowers levels of LDL (bad) cholesterol.  Has the lowest saturated fat content of any oil (half of olive oil!).  It therefore benefits weight gain, supports bone and joint health, cardiovascular health, immune and respiratory system, brain, eyes, skin and hair health. 

Choosing and Cooking : Cold pressed rapeseed oil has a higher smoking point 230oC so more suited for frying and roasting.  Olive oil becomes toxic at high temperatures.  Cold pressed rapeseed oil has no trans-fats or artificial preservatives and is gluten-free.  Excellent for use in salad dressings and makes a fine vinaigrette with its subtle nutty taste.
